| Digital hearing aid reviews give individuals useful
information about all aspects of buying a hearing aid. According to these
reviews, digital hearing aid batteries do not last quite as long as analog
hearing aid batteries will last, even though the same types of batteries
are used in both styles of hearing aids. The reason that the digital
hearing aid batteries do not last as long is because digital hearing aids
have more electrical parts in them that must be powered by the battery.
Usually, individuals will have to change their zinc air batteries in their
digital hearing aids about every five to seven days. This means that
individuals will spend from about six to eight dollars per month on
average on hearing aid batteries.
Colors and Types
Although the zinc air digital hearing aid batteries are probably the
most commonly used, they are not necessarily the best choice for use in
regard to cost and the environment. These batteries come in all different
sizes and are made by many different manufacturers such as Duracell,
Energizer, and Panasonic. The smallest batteries are the 5A, which are
pight red, the next is 10A which is yellow, 13A is orange, 312A is maroon,
and 675A is blue. This makes it easy for individuals to remember the size
of their battery when they go into a store. The zinc air batteries are
inexpensive in most cases, only costing about four dollars for a pack of
six batteries, which would last the individual from about fifteen to
twenty-one days on average. This price sounds good initially, but when
using close to two packs per month, that is eight dollars and twelve
batteries that are thrown away. Over the course of the year, the
individual will have thrown away one hundred forty-four batteries and have
spent ninety-six dollars.
A better choice in digital hearing aid batteries is to buy rechargeable
batteries. These batteries will typically hold their charge for a twenty
hour stretch at a time, so that they can be charged again every night. The
batteries can be charged an average of six hundred times so that they will
last close to two years before needing to be replaced. Rechargeable
digital hearing aid batteries cost about forty dollars for a pack of two,
which lasts for almost two years. This is minimal considering that zinc
air batteries would cost one hundred ninety two dollars over that same
time span. There is the initial cost of buying the charger as well, which
costs about one hundred thirty dollars at the top end of the spectrum, so
the initial expenditure for the first two years is one hundred seventy
dollars, which is still less than the one hundred ninety-two dollars for
the zinc air batteries.
